Ice Cream
For parties where you can serve ice cream, a nice touch is to give them the toppings and let them help themselves.

Ordinary chocolate or vanilla ice cream can be transformed if you put out a few extra bowls containing ‘sprinkles’.

Some suggestions are small sweets such as smarties, mini gems, chocolate drops, small marshmallows, fruit such as strawberries, blackberries, grapes, standard cake decorations such as oranges and lemons, sugared diamonds, cherries, and of course the propriety sauces or your equivalent – chocolate spread, for example.

It’s worth having a helper or two around to deal with any little accidents, but it can be a real time-saver rather than trying to decorate the desserts yourself – Just have a couple of wet-wipes or a stack of tissues to tidy up any over-enthusiastic eaters and expect a fair proportion of toppings to be distributed over the table!
